Happy New Year to all 7 of you reading!
New Years Eve, while at a party up in Springfield Mass, I jumped on a scale in the bathroom and to my horror realized that I have gained close to 20 pounds working this morning shift. Granted I have not been working out as much but, that all changed last week when I made it back into the gym.
Well, with the shift change that is coming up, I know that I will be back in the gym with more regularity. I had a great plan when i worked that shift a few months ago and was about 30lbs lighter!
I was reading Wired this week and saw a link that says Nightowls are more creative.
2 // Night owls are more creative.
Artists, writers, and coders typically fire on all cylinders by crashing near dawn and awakening at the crack of noon. In one study, “evening people” almost universally slam-dunked a standardized creativity test. Their early-bird brethren struggled for passing scores
I am looking forward to getting back into that Creative Groove I had while working in NYC.

Cha-cha-cha-changes
I was lucky last semester that I had a shift that permitted me to take classes in person. I found out this week that my shift is changing to a late afternoon/night shift. Nothing like my overnight days at ABC News but enough to throw a wrinkle in taking classes in person.
I now have to figure out my Spring schedule of classes… maybe I can take all online ones. Blah

End of the World
It’s been a boring few days, but I watched something petty cool.
The end of the world.

iPhone beats Storm
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! Some of you out there may have receivedan iPhone or Blackberry Storm for the Holidays. InfoWeek has published an article saying that iPhonecustomers are happier and more satisfied with the iPhone than Storm users.
When I first heard about the Storm, I thought that it would have a lot of problems. Since the “jesusphone” was released, every clone of the iPhone has not been up to par with the iPhone.
Sure, the iPhone has a lot of faults and needs some better functions (ie: removable battery, SD card slot, copy/paste, Picture messaging) I was sure that the Storm would have some short comings.
A bunch of sites have reviewed the phone and judge for yourself.

Recession Recipe: Education
Allison Waldman wrote in TV Week that the best recipe for the recession is education.
Most of you reading this are in the grad program at the Q and are currently pursuing a degree to help GET a job. She makes some great points that you should keep in the back of your head.
My Senior News Editor was so happy to hear that I was going back to school for a Masters degree. Anything we can do now to help us get a head of the game will help us in the future.
“One way to expand a job description and become more valuable to an employer is by developing Web skills, especially blogging. “Most journalists are blogging. Most traditional journalists have to blog as part of their jobs. When I met with a group last summer and asked journalists who were blogging, every hand went up,” said Mr. Willman. “They’re blogging daily. It hasn’t changed what they’ve done, but it’s provided a new outlet for them. Something that might not be right for the news hole would find a place on a blog. Some points may not require a full, in-depth story, but it’s still interesting enough to make it on a blog. Blogging has a very big role now for traditional journalists.”
Good thing I am blogging to stay ahead of the game.
